Repeat Pattern Screen Printing Workshop with HOCUS

Learn how to screen print in this workshop with Hocus Screen Prints & Design at the CCP! Participants will learn how to make a photographic stencil and screen print on fabric, with emphasis on repeat pattern printing.

Silkscreen printing has been vital in the creation and proliferation of the posters for decades. Its versatility, in terms of technique and availability of materials, allows printers to easily re-use designs on various materials, be it paper, textile, plastics, ceramics etc. This workshop is in line with current exhibition POSTER/ITY: 50 Years of Art and Culture at the CCP, on view until 26 May at the Bulwagang Juan Luna (Main Gallery), Pasilyo Guillermo Tolentino (3F Hallway Gallery), Library and Archives, and Buffeteria.

The 2-hour workshop will cover the following:

  • Materials & Equipment
  • Artwork preparation
  • Screen preparation
  • Coating the screen with photo emulsion
  • Screen exposure
  • Inks
  • Hands-on screen printing
  • Screen cleaning and maintenance

Session fee is PHP 2,000 per participant. All materials will be provided. Participants bring home their screen prints. There is a minimum of 4 participants, and only up to 8 participants per session will be accommodated.
